INTRODUCTION
------------
Animated Windows Capture Codec (AWCC) is a free program designed to compress video streams by using a lossless compression method. The AWCC is best for compressing artificial images (e.g. screen captures), and supports resizing them in a high quality way. The AWCC is very usefull for creating tutorial videos, example screen captions, etc.

SOFTWARE LICENSE AND DISTRIBUTION

The AWCC software is exclusively owned by Laszlo Arvai! This software is released as a freeware. You may FREELY use or distribute this program. Distribution is permitted only for the whole software package without any modifications and without any fee of charge. All accompanying files must be included. For a list of all files, see the next section.

PROGRAM FILES
-------------

The AWCC is distributed in two packages.

- AWCC.EXE is an automatic installation package

- AWCC.ZIP is a manual installation package and consists of
the following files:
- AWCC32.VCM Program file
- README.TXT This file

HARDWARE / SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
--------------------------------
Required configuration:
- IBM PC compatible 486 upwards
- Microsoft Windows with native Win32 (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT)

Recommended configuration:
- IBM PC with Pentium Processor and MMX support
- Window98 or NT

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
-----------------------
1a) If you have AWCC.EXE simply start the program and follow the instructions displayed on the sceen.

1b) If you have AWCC.ZIP extract AWCC32.VCM to your 'windows\system' directory. (e.g. c:\windows\system).

2a) If you are using win9x open system.ini and add the folowing to line to the drivers32 section:

vidc.awcc=AWCC32.VCM

e.g. your system.ini
...
[drivers32]
vidc.MSVC=msvidc32.dll
VIDC.MRLE=msrle32.dll
...
vidc.awcc=AWCC32.VCM ;<-- this line must be added
...

3b) If you are using WinNT open the registry editor and add the following entries to your registry:

Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Drivers.Desc/AWCC32.VCM = Animated Window Capture Codec
Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Drivers32/vidc.awcc = AWCC32.VCM


UNINSTALLING:
-------------

1a) If you are using win9x open the system.ini file and remove the folowing line from the drivers32 section:

vidc.awcc=AWCC.VCM

1b) If you are using WinNT open the registry editor and delete the folowing two keys from your registry

Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Drivers.Desc/AWCC32.VCM
Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Drivers32/vidc.awcc

2) Delete AWCC32.VCM from your 'windows/system' directory.
